The method involves injecting a plastic reinforcement structure to a metallic open profile (12), where the open profile is closed with a plastic cover part (28). The cover part is connected to the reinforcement structure by friction welding. The reinforcement structure is injection molded at an edge (26) of the open profile. An independent claim is also included for a composite hollow profile with a friction welded joint.
