<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for safely and inexpensively producing an acid halide having a leaving group and a bulky group with high accuracy in selectiveness. <P>SOLUTION: The production method of the acid halide includes a process for obtaining a carboxylic acid derivative by making a compound expressed by a general formula (III), a basic compound and a compound expressed by a general formula (IV) react with one another, and a process for obtaining a compound expressed by a general formula (I) by making the carboxylic acid derivative react with an acid halide agent. In the general formula (I), R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>are each independently a group selected from groups composed of alkyl, allyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, and hetero ring. R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>denotes an alkylene group. X<SB POS="POST">1</SB>denotes a halogen atom. L<SP POS="POST">1</SP>denotes a leaving group. In the general formula (III), R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>are synonymous with R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>in the general formula (I), respectively. M denotes a hydrogen atom or a metal atom. In the general formula (IV), R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>and L<SP POS="POST">1</SP>are synonymous with R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>and L<SP POS="POST">1</SP>in the general formula (I), respectively.
