PURPOSE: An optical inspection apparatus of a printed circuit board and a method thereof are provided to reduce an over-detection error due to a shadow, thereby increasing accuracy and effectiveness of an inspection. CONSTITUTION: A pattern storage part(52) stores a standard PCB(Printed Circuit Board) pattern image. A camera part(20) records a PCB image of a printed circuit board to be inspected. An image processing part(30) converts the recorded PCB image into the PCB pattern image. The image processing part converts the PCB pattern image into a binary bitmap image. A controller(40) compares the standard PCB pattern image and the PCB pattern image. The controller determines a normal state of the binary bitmap image.
