PURPOSE:To obtain a metal rolling oil having excellent rolling performance, by a method in which an alkylene oxide is added to an ester of a specified castor oil and then the addition product is subsjected to a thermal polymerization. CONSTITUTION:An alkylene oxide (e.g., ethylene oxide) is added to an ester of castor oil with one or more hydroxyl groups per one molecule, obtained from reaction of castor oil and a C12-C24 unsaturated fatty acid (e.g., oleic acid, linolic acid), and then the addition product is heated to a high temperature for thermal polymerization to obtain a metal rolling oil. |
