Disclosed are a transmission device and method, a reception device and method, and a transmission/reception system capable of acquiring a content corresponding to a need on a moment-to-moment basis. A server (11) generates a PDI-Q which represents a question regarding a taste of a user of a client (12), and transmits the PDI-Q and a provider side PDI-A which represents an answer set by a provider in response to the question regarding the taste of the user, to the client (12). In response to the PDI-Q transmitted from the server (11), the client (12) generates a user side PDI-A which represents a user's answer to the question, and determines acquisition of a content to be delivered from the server by matching the user side PDI-A and the provider side PDI-A transmitted from the server (11). The present invention can be applied to a broadcast system broadcasting a digital television program. |
