<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable suppression of the luminosity variation in a live view image and moving image which is generated when brightness of a photographic subject changes suddenly. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging device 134 repeats, at a prescribed timing, accumulating a charge acquired by photoelectric conversion of a subject light incident from a photographic lens 180, and outputting an image signal in accordance with the accumulated charge amount. A dimming filter 184 is constituted insertably/extractably with respect to an optical path of the photographic lens 180. A variation of a photographic subject brightness is derived on the basis of the variation of the image signal repeatedly output from the imaging device 134. When the variation of the photographic subject brightness is not less than a predetermined threshold value, the dimming filter 184 is driven by a filter driver 190 insertably/extractably with a timing or speed in accordance with a magnitude of the variation of the photographic subject brightness.
