An image processing method obtains information regarding an order of display of plural image layers or slices from analyzing S230 a cross sectional image, and performs control S240 such that layer display methods are sequentially changed and plural layers are displayed (Figures 4A-4D) based on the order. Cross-sectional retina (macula lutea) images, from an optical coherence tomography (OCT) fundus camera, may be analysed to select eye layers defined by anatomy using distances from a vitreous body, with layers as display order information. Retinal layers including nerve fibre (NFL), ganglion cell (GCL), inner/outer plexiform (IPL/OPL), inner/outer nuclear (INL/ONL) and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) layers may be imaged; white spots (E01, Figure 3) or cysts (N01) can be highlighted, using layer high importance values. Two or three dimensional (Figures 4E, 4F) display may be used, with either layer boundary lines or layers themselves emphasized, or only selected layers displayed, based on layer luminance; layer display time may be controlled by layer importance or significance. Display order may be list based, with GUI operator input control (Figures 7A-C). Layers may be displayed using grayscale, false colour or maximum intensity projection (MIP) methods.
|
