<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately control driving conditions of an image carrier upon rotating a little in an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier; developing means developing an image on the image carrier with toner; a rotation drive source rotatably driving the image carrier; a belt on which the toner image developed on the image carrier is transferred; toner image detecting means detecting the toner image transferred onto the belt; and a cleaning blade contacting the image carrier to remove the toner depositing on the image carrier. The apparatus includes control means performing a minute rotation control for rotating the image carrier in a minute angle in a plurality of times in the same rotation direction as in forming an image under predetermined driving conditions by the rotation drive source after the image carrier is once stopped. The control means detects the length of a toner image developed by the developing means on the image carrier, through the toner image detecting means, and corrects the driving conditions of the rotation drive source in the minute rotation control so as to control the length of the developed toner image to be at least closer to a predetermined length. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
