<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knitting method of a fabric which allows to form a stitch-laying treatment part with high elasticity and to provide a fabric made by the knitting method. <P>SOLUTION: Given that a direction in which a stitch-laying is sequentially formed in a longitudinal direction of a needle bed is referred to as a stitch-laying direction LS and the opposite direction to the stitch-laying direction LS is referred to as a start point direction RS, a knitting method comprises a step A and a step B. The step A comprises forming a first stitch 2 and a second stitch 3 as one being a face stitch and the other being a purl stitch, both of which are new stitches that follow in wale direction of a target stitch 1 subjected to a stitch-laying treatment. The step B comprises superimposing the second stitch 3 onto a proximity stitch 4 adjacent to the target stitch 1 in a stitch-laying direction.
