METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING TARGET SUBSTANCE VIA FERMENTATION

A technique in which a sugar solution that can be used as a carbon source for culturing a microorganism is efficiently manufactured from a biomass feedstock and the obtained sugar solution is used to manufacture a target substance via fermentation. In said method for manufacturing a target substance, in which a microorganism capable of producing the target substance is cultured in a culture medium and the target substance is collected from said medium, the carbon source for said culture medium is a sugar obtained by hydrothermally decomposing a biomass feedstock, saccharifying a hemicellulose-containing component that has migrated into the hot water, treating the obtained sugar solution with an adsorbent, and removing components that have become adsorbed thereto.
