<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector with excellent fitting operability and contact reliability by reducing wear due to sliding motion at a terminal contact caused by external vibrations and the like without increasing the force necessary for fitting operation. <P>SOLUTION: A front holder 36 fitted at the end of a terminal housing cylinder 39 of a first connector housing 33 comprises a facing wall 77 which faces one outer surface 386 of a female connecting terminal 38 in the terminal housing cylinder 39 when fitted at the end of the terminal housing terminal 39, and a backlash preventing projection 78 projected from a part of the facing wall 77 to touch the one outer surface 386.
