PURPOSE: A device for slitting a thin film for a display panel and a cutting method using the same are provided to cut a thin film to an accurate set width by correcting the position of a cutting head according to a designated cutting line. CONSTITUTION: A device for slitting a thin film for a display panel comprises a horizontal transfer part(110) which moves above a thin film in a direction parallel or perpendicular to the supply direction of the thin film, a cutting head(120) which cuts a thin film to a set width by irradiating a laser beam to a designated cutting line of the thin film in the supply direction of the thin film, a measuring part(130) which statically or dynamically measures the designated cutting line of the thin film entering the cutting head and provides image data for monitoring the meandering of the designated cutting line, and a correction control part(140) which confirms a changed position of the designated cutting line based on the image data of the measuring part and controls the horizontal transfer part in order to correct the cutting head to the changed position of the designated cutting line.
