A high bulk four ply laminated board for use in the production of large displays, show-cards or graphic panels, and the apparatus and method of manufacture. The inner plies or sheets are embossed to produce raised projections or bumps in a regular checkerboard pattern. Glue or adhesive is applied to the inner surfaces of the embossed leaves then the two sheets are pressed or rolled together so they adhere by connecting the elevated projections into a composite ply. The outer surfaces of the composite ply are simultaneously covered by print quality flat sheets coated in adhesive to form a high bulk laminated board. When making the composite ply, the peaks of one ply can be aligned with the valleys of the second sheet. Steam, heat and pressure can be used to assist embossing. An additional flat leaf can be inserted and adhered between the two embossed layers to form the composite core. |
