<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter-vehicle detecting device and an inter-vehicle detecting method detecting an inter-vehicle distance at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: An inter-vehicle detecting device includes: number-of-vehicle detecting means 2 detecting the number of vehicles in a specified area on a road; and inter-vehicle distance detecting means 32 detecting an inter-vehicle distance between a specific vehicle and a subsequent vehicle based on a traveling distance of the specific vehicle from a time when the specific vehicle enters the specified area to a time when the number of vehicles in the specified area increases, or detecting the inter-vehicle distance between the specific vehicle and a preceding vehicle based on the traveling distance of the specific vehicle from a time when the number of vehicles in the specified area decreases to a time when the specific vehicle goes out from the specified area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
