<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress excessive power consumption generated in an internal combustion engine when stopping the internal combustion engine during traveling. <P>SOLUTION: In a hybrid vehicle, the engine is stopped when a stop condition including an intermittent allowable vehicle speed condition in which a vehicle speed V is lower than a threshold Vpr is satisfied, and when the opening and closing timing VT of an intake valve reaches the most retardant timing. The vehicle determines that the stop condition is predicted to be satisfied when the vehicle speed V is not lower than the threshold Vpr and lower than a value (Vpr+α), when a vehicle speed change rate ΔV is smaller than a threshold ΔVref, and when the vehicle is in an acceleration-off state (S120 to S140), and the vehicle starts to execute the most retardant processing for controlling a variable valve timing mechanism so that the opening and closing timing VT of the intake valve is changed to the most retardant timing which is the slowest timing (S160). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
