PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide element capable of preventing radiation loss light in the optical waveguide element from entering into a different waveguide. SOLUTION: In order to prevent crosstalk by the radiation loss light in a clad layer at a part other than the waveguide part of the optical waveguide element, especially between the plurality of waveguides after the branching/intersecting of branching/intersecting waveguides or on the curved part outer side of the waveguide, a clad layer removed part is formed so as to satisfy the condition of total reflection prevention on a radiation side face, the condition that reflected light on a re-incidence side face is not made incident from the radiation side face and a structural condition for forming an antireflection film on the radiation side face.
