The machine (1) has a workpiece spindle comprising a rotation axis and a movement axis. A machine bed (2) comprises two spaced-apart bearing surfaces (2.1, 2.2) for a linear motor and the spindle. A chip space (2.3) is provided between the bearing surfaces and partially defined by the machine bed. The spindle with respect to the chip space is mounted opposite to the linear motor on one of the bearing surfaces. Cast iron mass of the machine bed includes a maximum value, where the value is ranged between 100 kg and 500 kg, between 150 kg and 300 kg and between 170 kg and 200 kg or 180 kg.
