PURPOSE: A control system and a control method thereof for a LNG storage tank are provided to maximize heat insulation capacity of a cargo hold by keeping a space forming by a secondary barrier and a hull in vacuum pressure. CONSTITUTION: A control system for a LNG storage tank comprises a nitrogen gas feeder(41), a vacuum pump(43), and a control unit(49). A space(37) is formed between a primary barrier(7) and a secondary barrier(11), and the nitrogen gas feeder supplies nitrogen gas to the space. A space(39) is formed between the secondary barrier and an inner hull(S), and the vacuum pump makes the space in a vacuum. The control unit controls the nitrogen gas feeder and the vacuum pump.
