<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive underwater rotary unit that requires no lubricating oil for shaft seal mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: A diagonal flow pump 1 includes an electric motor chamber 5 storing an electric motor 4 which rotationally drives an impeller 3 coupled to an output shaft 2, and a shaft seal chamber 6 provided between the electric motor chamber 5 and the impeller 3. The shaft seal chamber 6 is shaft-sealed by a first shaft seal mechanism 7 provided on the impeller 3 side and a second shaft seal mechanism 8 provided on the electric motor chamber 5 side, in the output shaft 2. The shaft seal chamber 6 is configured to function as a saturated steam chamber which condenses the steam entering the shaft seal chamber 6 from the first shaft seal mechanism 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
