<p>The optical modulation system (1) comprises an optical waveguide (2) made of dielectric elastomer, and electrodes (3,4) arranged at the opposite sides of the dielectric elastomer. The cladding regions (5,6) are arranged between the electrodes and the optical waveguide. The material of the cladding regions has a low refractive index with respect to the light of preset wavelength passing through the optical waveguide, than that of the dielectric elastomer. The optical path length between the electrodes is varied by applying an electric voltage to the electrodes. An independent claim is included for method of operating optical modulation system.</p> |
