<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based ink composition for reversible thermochromic ball-point pen, which contains a microcapsule pigment including a reversible thermochromic composition as a colorant, is excellent in drying resistance, can form good handwriting permanently and is rich in practicality; and to provide a ball-point pen refill and a ball-point pen using the composition. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a water-based ink composition 6 for reversible thermochromic ball-point pen at least containing: a microcapsule pigment prepared by encapsulating the reversible thermochromic composition comprising (a) an electron-donating color-developing organic compound, (b) an electron-accepting compound and (c) a reaction medium for controlling the coloring reaction of the components (a) and (b); water; a sheared viscosity reduction-imparting agent; and a copolymer of N-vinyl-pyrrolidone or a derivative thereof and an alkene compound.
