<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy for determining slug attachment, and to prevent the plugging of a burner previously. <P>SOLUTION: The gasification furnace 1 includes the burner 15 installed in the furnace wall and gushing a carbon-containing solid raw material and an oxidizing agent into the furnace, a detector 29 for detecting the pressure drop of the gushing fluid at the burner 15, a determining means 8 for determining the slug attachment to the fluid-gushing opening of the burner 15 based on the detected value detected by the detector 29, and a removing means for removing the attached slug based on the determination by the determining means 8, and gasifies the carbon-containing solid raw material by partially burning the raw material with the oxidizing agent.
