PURPOSE: A method for dividing a circular planar plate composed of a brittle material into multiple individual rectangular plates using a laser is provided to accurately disperse thermal stress. CONSTITUTION: A method for dividing a circular planar plate composed of a brittle material into multiple individual rectangular plates using a laser is as follows. A planar plate(1), composed of a brittle material, is divided into multiple individual rectangular plates along separated cracks(2) using stress induced by a laser. The separate cracks are vertical to each other.
