The engine (1) has a thermoelectric generator (TEG) (2) whose hot side is arranged at an exhaust line (3) of the engine. A refrigerant circuit (4) is arranged at a cold side of the TEG, where a transmission oil heat exchanger (5) is arranged in the refrigerant circuit in a coolant flow direction before the TEG. A thermostat (6) is provided in the refrigerant circuit for adjusting a coolant volumetric flow to the TEG and the heat exchanger. The refrigerant circuit is connected with the thermostat in the coolant flow direction before the heat exchanger and after the TEG.
