<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for mass-producing saccharides which may serve as raw materials for producing industrial products and/or liquid fuels such as ethanol from nonedible plants including lignocellulosic biomass existing in large quantities through utilizing alkali digestion technique being utilized in the paper-and-pulp industry as a pretreatment means. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing saccharides from lignocellulosic biomass, provided with comprising conducting an alkali digestion treatment of lignocellulosic biomass and then treating the resultant alkali digestion treatment product by enzymatic saccharification reaction, is characterized in that the alkali digestion treatment is such that the alkali addition rate relative to the lignocellulosic biomass is set at 7-13%, and in that the yield of the alkali digestion treatment product is controlled within the range of 55-80 mass%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
