<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize miniaturization while rattling is suppressed in an SIDM supersonic linear actuator inputting a rectangular wave pulse, generating pseudo sawtooth-like displacement vibration and driving a member to be driven. <P>SOLUTION: In the supersonic linear actuator 13, a weight 139 is attached to one end of a piezoelectric element, a rod 132 to the other end, a sliding portion 44 which is friction-engaged with the rod 132 moves by the pseudo sawtooth-like displacement vibration. When the rod 132 exceeds prescribed length D13 by driving at a rectangular wave pulse, a base end side cannot generate effective vibration. On the other hand, only length D14 is extended and formed by exceeding length D13. A sliding portion 44-side is formed to be a friction engaging portion 444 which is formed to be longer (D15) than length D14 of an extension amount and generates thrust by friction-engaging a free end side to the rod 132 in a conventional way.
