<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting an accumulation amount of a conveyor which does not detect the accumulation amount in a state that containers such as bottles are overflowed, but can detect the accumulation amount even if there is a room in the conveyed containers, can control an operation of the conveyor which corresponds to the accumulation amount, and can control the damage of the container such as the bottles, and a device. <P>SOLUTION: In the accumulation amount detecting method of the conveyor 11 in a conveyor line 10 conveying the container P such as the bottle by a carrier such as a chain, a strain gauge 3 attached to a rail 2 supporting the carrier such as the chain detects a strain amount of the rail 2.
