<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool position determining technique for determining a cutting tool position, with which the cutting tool position can be determined more simply with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: In Fig.(a), a hole 27 into which a tool 38 for turning a screw 21 in a direction orthogonal to the center axis of a tool, is arranged on the wall 26 of a jig 25 and a spring 31 for pushing out the cutting tool 16 is housed in a pocket 17. In Fig.(b), when the screw 21 is loosened by the tool 38, the cutting tool 16 is pushed out by the spring 31 and a cutting edge 19 is abutted on the surface 41 of a hole 24 of the jig 25. The cutting tool 16 is fixed by the screw 21 in such a state that the cutting edge 19 is abutted on the surface 41. The tool can be accurately positioned with respect to the jig 25 and the jig 25 can be manufactured with manufacturing tolerance of micron units. Since the cutting edge 19 is abutted on the surface 41 and the cutting tool position is determined, the highly accurate cutting tool position can be obtained.
