The application relates to a method for executing a utility program on a computer system (1) with a system management module (5). The method comprises the following steps: activating a graphics memory (13) of the computer system (1); downloading, by means of the system management module (5), a memory map comprising the utility program to be executed; storing, by means of the system management module (5), the memory map in the graphics memory (13); copying the memory map from the graphics memory (13) into a main memory (4) of the computer system (1); and executing the utility program by means of a processor (2a, 2b) of the computer system (1). The application further relates to a computer system (1) and to a computer program product that are designed to execute such a method.
