345,773. Removing cuttings from machines. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd., 93, Regent Street, London, Feb. 18, 1930, No. 5459. Convention date, Feb. 18, 1929. [Class 83 (iii).] In a conveyer system for removing turnings, borings, &c. and suds or other lubricating means, from a range of metal cutting machine tools 12, branch conveyers 11 convey the solid material to a trunk conveyer 10 and the liquid material to pipes 39 which lead to a main settling tank. Each conveyer 11 consists of a series of trays 23, Fig. 3, the side walls 26 of which extend beyond the tray proper and have an opening in each end of each wall through which the driving chain pins 30 extend. Each pin is prevented from rotating with respect to one of the trays which it connects. The rear wall 24 of one tray is curved to extend over the forward wall 25 of the next tray to prevent the passage of turnings between them. A slot 27, Fig. 4, in each corner of each tray allows the passage of the suds &c. into the bottom of the trough 15. The rollers 35 of the driving chains run on tracks 21, 22 supported on angle-irons 16 and the bottom of the trough, respectively. The angle-irons 16 are secured to the inside of the trough and are connected at intervals by tie rods 19. Splash plates 17 are secured to the top edges of the trough and are reinforced by members 18. The conveyer 10 delivers the solid material to a car 40. |
