<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device and a communication relay method which do not cause congestion in a band in a network nor an increase of a bandwidth and a burden on node processing in a communication device terminating an operation, maintenance and management frame. <P>SOLUTION: A communication device transmits and receives a maintenance frame to maintain communication between communication devices mutually connected in a ring shape. The communication device comprises: a first transmission and reception unit which receives a maintenance frame from a higher communication device which is a transmission source of the maintenance frame, or is a transmission destination of the maintenance frame, and if the maintenance frame has been received by a lower communication device monitored by the communication device, transmits a response frame, indicating that the maintenance frame was received by the transmission destination, to the upper communication device; a frame generation unit which, if the first transmission and reception unit has received the maintenance frame, generates a maintenance frame for a lower to transmit to a lower communication device; and a second transmission and reception unit which transmits the maintenance frame for a lower generated by the frame generation unit to the lower communication device, or receives a response frame for a lower, indicating that the maintenance frame for a lower was received, from the lower communication device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
