OPTICAL DISK DEVICE, REPRODUCING METHOD, RECORDING METHOD AND OPTICAL DISK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device for recording and reproducing data and parity in a plurality of optical disks by block units which reproduces data including a defective cluster at a stable speed while preventing reduction in a data transfer rate without increasing a setup time.

SOLUTION: The plurality of the optical disk device units have a function of returning dummy data without alternative processing even when an optical disk has a defective cluster in response to a usual reproduction instruction, and returning data of an alternative cluster through the alternative processing in response to a retry reproduction instruction. An optical disk device controller outputs the retry reproduction instruction to the optical disk device units when an error correction processing is disabled.
