<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an OLT, an optical communication system, and a concentration method which can suppress an increment in OLT cost associated with addition of a concentration function. <P>SOLUTION: An OLT of the present invention is configured to install a transceiver instead of a conventional OSU, and have a selector for concentrating an uplink signal from an ONU received by each transceiver.
