PURPOSE: A composition containing VEGFR-3 for preventing or treating ischemic diseases is provided to promote infiltrating exogenous macrophage activity and to treat ischemic damage. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating ischemic diseases contains VEGFR-3(vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3) or nucleic acids encoding the protein. The VEGFR-3 protein has an amino acid of sequence number 1. The nucleic acid has a polynucleotide of sequence number 2. A method for screening a material for preventing or treating ischemic diseases comprises: a step of contacting with a sample to be analyzed to cells containing VEGFR-3 protein or the gene encoding the protein; a step of measuring VEGFR-3 protein level, activity, or gene expression level; and a step of determining the sample as a material for preventing or treating ischemic diseases.
