PURPOSE: A composition containing an agent for detecting a dentin marker is provided to confirm differentiation and to detect dentin by measuring mRNA or protein level of the marker gene. CONSTITUTION: A composition for detecting a dentin marker contains an agent for measuring mRNA or protein level of mimecan gene. The agent for measuring mRNA is a primer pair or probe which is specific to the mimecan gene. The agent for measuring protein level is an antibody which specific to the mimecan gene. A method or detecting the dentin marker comprises: a step of obtaining peptide mass in a biological sample using a mass spectrometer; and a step of identifying peptides by comparing mass spectrum of peptides with protein sequence database.
