FUEL CELL COMPRISING CATHODE ELECTRODE USING IRON REDOX COUPLE

PURPOSE: A fuel cell is provided to reduce manufacturing because of not using precious metal catalyst like platinum catalyst, to have high power density, and to improve the energy conversion efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A fuel cell comprises an anode electrode, a cathode electrode and an ion exchange membrane between the anode and the cathode electrode. The cathode electrode comprises iron redox couple as an oxidizer. The divalent ion of the iron redox couple is generated by one or more oxidative gas selected from the group consisting of NOx, O3, Cl2, Br2, HNO3, HNO2, HClO4, HClO3, HClO2 and HClO. The ion exchange membrane is cation exchange membrane or anion exchange membrane.
