<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of active material capable of improving cycle characteristics of a lithium ion secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of the active material according to the present invention includes a hydrothermal synthesis step of heating a mixed liquor containing a lithium source, a phosphate source, a vanadium source having pentavalent vanadium, water, and citric acid under pressure.
