<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device which enable automatic centering of a dressing tool and significant reduction of time required. <P>SOLUTION: For previously centering a dressing tool (27), the tool is made to contact with the circumference of a rotating grinding worm (11) by radially feeding the tool without axial movement, and a rotation angle position of the grinding worm (11) at which the thread root (36) transition starts or ends is detected using an acoustic-sensor signal of a grinding spindle (16) and a rotation angle sensor (18). Next, for fine centering of the dressing tool (27) to be fed into the thread root (36), the tool is made to contact with the right and left flanks (38 and 39) by axial displacement. When a signal level which can be preset by an acoustic sensor signal is exceeded, axial feeding is stopped, and an exact center of the thread root (36) of the grinding worm is calculated from the contact position of the dressing tool (27). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
