<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of stably forming a high quality image by swiftly correcting the image density when a change is detected in toner density. <P>SOLUTION: Toner density detection means 14 detects toner density of a developer in a developing device. When the detection result by the toner density detection means 14 exceeds an upper limit value or a lower limit value limiting the toner density, toner replenish control means 110 controls replenishing of the toner. When the detection result by the toner density detection means 12 exceeds a control switch limit value lower than the upper limit value limiting the toner density, the image density control means switches from a toner replenish control to a development contrast control to increase the image density. When the detection result by the toner density detection means is lower than the control switch limit value higher than the lower limit value limiting the toner density, the toner replenish control is switched to a development contrast control to lower the image density. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
