<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an umbrella allowing an umbrella handle to be continuously gripped with slight force and not troublesome to carry when not putting up the umbrella because it is terrible for a woman, a child and an old person with a weak grip to continue gripping the umbrella handle for many hours when putting up the umbrella and a user has often felt troublesome to carry the umbrella when carrying the closed umbrella, holding a baggage or doing shopping. <P>SOLUTION: A reel part 10 is built in a lower part of the umbrella handle, and the tip of a string 12 pulled out of the reel part 10 is attached to the upper part of a handle part 16. When putting up the umbrella, the hand is put between the handle part 16 and the string 12 to grip the handle. The string is thereby extended along the top side and back side of the hand and stabilized to allow the user to continue gripping the handle with slight force. When not putting up the umbrella, the lower side of the string 12 is held to pull out the string from the reel part 10.
