PURPOSE: An apparatus for measuring the transformation of a rolling material and a control method thereof are provided to improve the quality of a rolled product by measuring the direction and degree of bending of a work piece after a rolling process for adjusting the width of the work piece and offering information necessary for control of a rolling mill. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for measuring the transformation of a rolling material comprises a guide unit(10), a transformation sensor(50), a speed sensor(70), an object sensor(30), and a control unit. The guide unit, in which a plurality of feed rollers(12) are installed, is installed on the exit side of a work roller. The transformation sensor measures the direction and extent of bending of a work piece passing through the guide unit. The speed sensor senses the transfer speed of the work piece passing through the guide unit. The object sensor senses the insertion of the work piece into the guide unit. The control unit determines the operation of the transformation sensor and the speed sensor according to signals from the object sensor.
