PURPOSE: A method for controlling a sleep mode under an IEEE 802.16E standard in a wireless network for reducing the electrical energy consumption without the hardware adjustment of the mobile terminal is provided to reduce the power consumption by the mode switching. CONSTITUTION: A base station decides the length an initial sleep section(S300). If the current sleep section is expired by, the base station enters into the listening interval(S320). The base station measures the stored DL traffic quantity of a buffer(S330). In case the measured traffic quantity is not bigger than 0, the base station transmits the maintenance of the sleep mode to a mobile terminal(S340). |
