<p>A water jet deterrent device (100) for mounting to a maritime vessel is described which comprises a fluid distribution chamber, having a fluid inlet for receiving water under pressure from a vessel-borne water supply system, and a fluid outlet, a nozzle head (110) comprising a plurality N of water jet nozzles (120), the nozzle head (110) being rotatably mounted with respect to the fluid distribution chamber (170) and arranged to receive the water under pressure via the fluid outlet and output the water via the water jet nozzles (120) as water jets, the plurality of water jet nozzles being distributed about the axis of rotation of the nozzle head (110), and a drive mechanism for driving the rotation of the nozzle head (110) with respect to the fluid distribution chamber (170). The fluid outlet is arranged to distribute the water under pressure to each of the water jet nozzles (120) during only a portion of each rotation of the nozzle head around its axis of rotation.</p> |
