PURPOSE: Measuring device and method are provided to enable corresponding samples to be specified on a display unit even if a plurality of samples are placed on a stand. CONSTITUTION: A measuring device comprises a memory unit(15), a measuring unit, a memory processing unit, and a display processing unit. The memory unit associates and memorizes the position of a plurality of samples(3) on a stand with sample identifying information to specify each sample. The measuring unit measures the samples with reference to the position of sample memorized on the memory unit. The memory processing unit associates and memorizes measuring results by the measuring unit with sample identifying information corresponding to each sample.
