摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calibrate a magnetic compass so as to compensate hard iron disturbance in the magnetic field of the Earth due to a device and component integrated with the magnetic compass. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetic compass is provided that includes a magnetometer 122 for measuring a magnetic field and a processing unit 102 for calibrating the magnetic compass 120. The processing unit is configured to inspect a predetermined number of magnetic field samples and calculate calibration coefficient from the inspected magnetic field samples 252-1 to 252-8.
