PURPOSE: A stapler is provided to reduce the volume of stacked paper files since the thickness of a paper file comprising steel staple decreases. CONSTITUTION: A stapler(10) comprises a slope(8), a fastening support(2), a protrusion(7), and a stopping unit. The slope is formed on both sides of the upper end of a base support(1) and slopes inward. In a state the inclined plane(2a) of the fastening support makes contact with the slope, the fastening support moves. When a spring(4) is compressed by pressing of a push plate(6), the protrusion inwardly pushes the ends(13) of a steel staple(3) penetrating through a paper file(5) between the push plate and the fastening support. The stopping unit is formed on the upper part of the protrusion at right angle.
