<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire grid polarizing plate capable of improving luminance of a display device and reducing irregular luminance when the polarizing plate is applied to a display device such as a liquid crystal display device, and to provide a liquid crystal display device having the wire grid polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: The wire grid polarizing plate comprises a substrate having a grid-like concavo-convex pattern on a surface thereof and a conductor provided adjacent to at least one side face of a convex portion in the grid-like concavo-convex pattern, in which the substrate surface is provided with a region where the film thickness of the conductor differs. Specifically, in a region where a higher transmittance is desired in the wire grid polarizing plate, the film thickness of the conductor is decreased; and in a region where a lower transmittance and higher reflectance are desired, the film thickness of the conductor is increased. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
