The disclosed fuel control device for an internal combustion engine capable of using a plurality of fuel types minimizes losses in fuel efficiency when using a rich air-fuel ratio upon return from a fuel-cut state. Said internal combustion engine (200), which is provided in a vehicle also provided with an exhaust purification device (300, 400) in the exhaust passage of said internal combustion engine, is provided with a fuel supply device (208, 209) that can supply the following fuels: a first fuel (a liquid fuel); and a second fuel (CNG), the exhaust from which contains more reductant than that from the first fuel when running with a rich air-fuel ratio. The disclosed fuel control device (100) is provided with: a first control means that controls the fuel supply device such that the supply of the aforementioned fuel(s) is temporarily stopped under certain conditions; and a second control means controls the fuel supply device such that, when the supply of fuel is resumed from the aforementioned temporarily-stopped state, the fuel supplied is the second fuel and the exhaust air-fuel ratio becomes the aforementioned rich air-fuel ratio. |
