The device has a controllable throttle element in an exhaust channel, and an exhaust valve (5) transforming into an intermediate open position by the throttle element in a throttle position, for engine braking. Mechanical connection mechanisms (7, 8) connects the exhaust valve with a cam shaft, and includes a hydraulic valve-additional control unit (12) that retains the exhaust valve in the intermediate open position. The control unit is switched- on and off by an auxiliary oil circuit (3). A main oil circuit (2) includes an oil guiding channel (10) running inner side of a bearing shaft (6). An independent claim is also included for a method for braking an exhaust valve-brake type self-igniting 4-stroke reciprocating internal combustion engine. |
