<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically switch double sides reading/single side reading according to a document width in an image reading device which comprises a first image reading unit for reading an image on one side of a document over a first range in a main scanning direction and a second image reading unit for reading an image on another side of the document over a second range larger than the first range in the main scanning direction. <P>SOLUTION: When conveyance of document is started (S1) and reading operation by an ADF-CIS capable of reading up to an A4 size is started (S2), a document size is detected in response to the reading result (S3). If the document is an A3 size and the document size could not be detected by S3 (S6:N), data read by the ADF-CIS is deleted (S21), and single side reading only by a FB-CIS capable of reading up to the A3 size (S5) is executed. If the document size is A4 or smaller and has been detected (S6:Y), double sides reading which is started in S2 and S5 is executed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
